Day 5 - Osaka

Shinkansen!
We overslept (got up at 10.30) and rushed to catch the 12.10pm Shinkansen(bullet train) to Osaka. We were worried that we were gonna miss it, in case we got lost in the maze that is Tokyo station or got on the wrong platform(these super efficient trains leave on the dot). By sheer luck, the exit from our train from Baraki Nakayama was less than 100 meters from where the Shinkansen entrance was. With less than 10minutes before our train leaving, we had already got ourselves beer and bento, quintessential things for a bullet train ride.

Had a drink at an Engrish pub(it was the only watering hole that was open that early) this dark Heiniken was niceeee, pity they don't have it back home.

We found a reasonable place to stay on the main drag and cleaned up before a night on the town. Wandering around at 8pm, we found most bars empty(it was a Tuesday night after all. We ended up in a bar called B-trip, having beer after beer. We were getting bored and restless. The bartender tells us that B-trip usually comes to life at about 5am.

I next ordered what a lady across the bar had. It was called a red-eye. Half beer and half tomato juice, served with tabasco and pepper. Yummy, just like a bloody mary. Neil insisted that it was a woman's drink but i couldnt be arsed. Quite drunk, we left B-trip for some food. The bartender suggested a 500yen restaurant. We thought that it was an all-u-can eat establishment, but it actually 500 yen per item. Kinda steep for a hole in the wall but the food was good.

quite amazing what is churned out in this tiny corridor of a kitchen

We had more drinks at an Engrish speaking establishment called Bamboo(the owner Daryl is an aussie ex-english teacher). We ended up pretty drunk horsing around in Donkiote(a chain of shops that sells a smogasboard of things, kinda like Mustafa's)

What U had on Shinkansen seems like a conger (Anago).

Take a look at the Q12.
Anago has white dots by the side of its body.
Anago is rather plain taste as compaired to the eel.

Unagi travels from a river to a sea over the years as it grows up, yet Anago only lives in the sea.
