Strawberry salad

I dunno who I was trying to fool, but i tried eating a salad for lunch. No prizes for guessing if i was satiated or not. I ended up going to Botak Jones for a cheeseburger.

Mentaiko pasta

I had the good fortune of getting some mentaiko from Kyushu and despite having it with only once before, i had never tried cooking with it. Got a recipes off the net and it turned out quite well. Brown some onions, add cream, mayo and then the mentaiko(broken out of the egg sac) . Toss in cooked pasta, top with a boiled egg and garnish with nori strips.
Delish.

Red Star Dim Sum

Its been ages since I had old school tim sum, the kind that came around to you by a lady pushing a cart around the restaurant and u pick what u want to have from the cart... Just brings back childhood memories of having tim sum at Prince Room with my parents at the now torn down Selegi Complex. It was quite crowded at Red Star that morning, having to queue for about 30mins before we got a table. The fare was quite average really, with my dining companions saying that the standard has dropped quite a bit. We ordered dish after dish hoping that the next one would taste better that the last. By the time we were halfway thru eating, i realised that i was already full from drinking so much tea cos of the salty dim sum. Some items like the yam puff and glutenous rice wrapped in lotus leaf was decent, but items that i recommended by friends like the egg tart was disappointing because of a chemical aftertaste.
Well , at least the ambiance was nice, tacky but strangely comforting.

No Sign Board Crab Bee Hoon

This is just one of the most awesome recent discoveries that I have made, or rather tasted. I have heard of crab bee hoon for ages, but finally got myself to go try some. Not exactly cheap at 40 bucks for 1 plate(1 big ass crab), it is kinda steep... but ok for an occasional treat! I was on my way back when i asked the driver to drop me off at No Sign Board at the infamous Geylang red light district. Feeling out of place i thought i just tar-pow my late night craving to devour in the comfort of home. Its a little greasy with a bit of kick from the chilli and pepper but the noodles are just so tasty! Rather heavy and I don't recommend eating it at midnight, best leave that to a professional like me.

Casuarina curry

Ok boys and girls, its time again for me to diss food places.... I ended up at this prata place in the north of Singapore totally by accident. I wont go into details, but getting a lift from a golf driving range by a golf lesson course-mate ended up with me joining them at this place that serves fare that is quite alien to me. The prata here is like a cracker, even worse that the rubbish they serve at Jalan Kayu. How hard is it to find crispy yet fluffy prata these days *sigh*. I won't go into detail about the curry cos that was just not nice at all. But being in new company had me on my best behaviour and ate as much as i politely could. I am sure this place has a loyal following judging from the packed dining area, but maybe i should recommend a better prata place in time to come.
