Midnight drive with Kak and Shelia

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Met Syereen and her friend Sheila after work for ice cream at Swensens. I found out a few days later that Shelia and I were in the same primary school and even in the same Malay class in primary 6! So freaky! She said that she remembered me, saying that I was a quite boy.... I wasn't generally quiet but I was a mouse in Malay class 'cos Chikgu Ramlah scared the shit out of me. She had a temper and would really pinch us really hard if we slacked. Long gone are the golden days of abuse in the classroom. Anyway Sheila and I clicked almost immediately. We drove to Mount Faber then to Changi Village for a spot of trannie watching and teh tarik. Quiet night out but was enjoyable.

Shan I think is more of a foodie than me. While at ICB she had actually made prior plans to have mee swa at a hawker center in Bedok North with Diana and Anna. I don't think I actually do that. But then I might have unconsciously done it before.

Brains and all...

Despite of not being a fan of mee swa, I decided to order it as it came highly recommended by Shan and Anna. It was not as slimy as my vague memory while having it a child, though I think the liver slices in them put me off it till now. I ordered mine minus the spare parts. The gravy was nicely spiced and rich. Quite yummy. Diana's bowl had brain slices in it. I don't think she ate them but I think Syareena and Rehan were a bit taken aback by the kind of things u can find in a bowl of noodles there. Rehan was getting queasy looking at the mee sua and the risk of getting splashed with babi broth kinda scared him, judging from his body language. Syareena and Rehan on the other hand had roti jon and sab suka. What is sab suka you might ask? I have not heard of it before but it was pretty interesting. Most people who I described it to mistook it for kacang pol, but it was basically a spicy mince meat bolognese type sauce topped with a mata lembu and served with french bread.
